Create your account using your company registration details. You'll need your company name, registration number, VAT number, and a responsible procurement manager's details. All accounts are manually verified before activation to ensure only legitimate industrial buyers gain access.
Browse our comprehensive product catalogue — structured steel, hollow sections, flat bar, plate, stainless, aluminium, reinforcing and pipes. Products are listed to SANS standards with full dimensional specifications. Add multiple items to your cart with the required quantity. All in one enquiry — no more separate phone calls per product.
When you submit your enquiry, the system simultaneously sends it to every verified supplier who stocks the relevant products in your area. No favouritism. No bypassing. Every qualified supplier gets the same enquiry at the same time — creating genuine competition for your business.
Suppliers submit their proforma invoices directly into the platform. You see all quotes side-by-side — total price, lead time, and any conditions. Select the quote that best suits your needs. The winning supplier is notified immediately and all others are informed that the enquiry is closed.
The supplier issues a formal tax invoice through the platform. Once payment is confirmed, a delivery note is generated. You either arrange collection from the supplier's premises or the supplier delivers to your site. The order is marked complete once delivery is confirmed by both parties.

Metal Buyers Africa (Pty) Ltd — Effective Date: 1 January 2025
"MBA" means Metal Buyers Africa (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2024/000000/07, a company registered in South Africa.
"Platform" means the Metal Buyers Africa web application at metalbuyersafrica.co.za and any associated services.
"Buyer" means any registered company or individual using the Platform to request quotations for metal products.
"Supplier" means any registered metal merchant, stockist, or distributor listed on the Platform.
"Enquiry" means a request for quotation submitted by a Buyer through the Platform.
By registering an account or using the Platform in any capacity, you unconditionally accept these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform. MBA reserves the right to amend these terms at any time. Continued use after amendment constitutes acceptance.
MBA operates solely as an intermediary procurement platform. MBA is not a party to any transaction between a Buyer and a Supplier. MBA does not buy, sell, hold, warrant, or guarantee any metal products. All contracts for the supply of goods are formed directly between Buyers and Suppliers.
Buyers must: (a) be duly registered legal entities or sole proprietors lawfully operating in South Africa; (b) provide accurate company and contact information at registration; (c) submit Enquiries only for genuine, intended purchases; (d) not submit fictitious, speculative, or test Enquiries on the live Platform; (e) treat Supplier quotations as confidential commercial information.
Suppliers must: (a) provide accurate pricing, lead times, and product specifications in all quotations; (b) honour any quotation that a Buyer accepts within the stated validity period; (c) not collude with other Suppliers on pricing; (d) maintain appropriate business licences and comply with all applicable South African law.
Access to the Buyer Portal requires a valid subscription. Subscription fees are charged monthly or annually as selected at registration. Fees are non-refundable except where required by the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. MBA reserves the right to suspend access for non-payment. Supplier listing is currently provided at no charge; MBA reserves the right to introduce Supplier fees with 30 days' notice.
All content on the Platform, including product data, software, design, and trademarks, is owned by MBA or its licensors. You may not copy, scrape, redistribute, or commercialise any Platform content without prior written consent from MBA.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MBA shall not be liable for: (a) any loss arising from a Supplier's failure to deliver or honour a quotation; (b) pricing errors in Supplier quotations; (c) delays, interruptions, or errors in the Platform; (d) any indirect, consequential, or pure economic loss. MBA's aggregate liability to any party shall not exceed the subscription fees paid by that party in the 12 months preceding the claim.
All pricing, quotations, and business information shared through the Platform is confidential. Users must not disclose another party's commercial information to any third party without that party's written consent.
MBA may suspend or terminate any account immediately and without notice if a user breaches these terms, engages in fraudulent activity, or acts in a manner harmful to other users or the Platform. Users may cancel subscriptions by written notice to MBA.
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Gauteng, South Africa. These terms are subject to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined under POPIA (e.g. race, health, biometric data).
Your information is collected and used to: (a) create and manage your account; (b) match your enquiries with relevant Suppliers; (c) process subscription payments; (d) send transaction-related notifications (quotes received, order updates); (e) comply with our legal obligations; (f) improve the Platform and detect fraud.
We do not use your information for unsolicited marketing without your explicit consent.
We process your personal information on the following grounds under POPIA: (a) contractual necessity — to provide the services you have subscribed to; (b) legitimate interest — to operate and improve the Platform; (c) legal obligation — to comply with South African law; (d) consent — where you have explicitly agreed.
We share your information only as necessary:
We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active plus 5 years thereafter (for legal and audit purposes). Transaction records are retained for 7 years as required by South African tax law. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time (see Section 8).
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures including: (a) passwords hashed with bcrypt (minimum cost factor 12); (b) all data in transit encrypted via TLS/HTTPS; (c) database access restricted to authorised systems only; (d) JWT-based authentication with time-limited tokens; (e) regular security reviews before each production deployment.
You have the right to: (a) access the personal information we hold about you; (b) correct inaccurate information; (c) delete your account and personal data (subject to legal retention obligations); (d) object to processing in certain circumstances; (e) lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@metalbuyersafrica.co.za or use the account deletion feature in your profile settings. We will respond within 30 days.
The Platform uses browser localStorage to maintain your login session (JWT token). We do not use third-party tracking cookies or analytics that collect personal information without consent. No advertising cookies are used.
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure (primary region: eu-west or us-east). Supabase complies with international data transfer standards. We take reasonable steps to ensure adequate protection where data crosses borders.
